A blog is published writing; anyone could read it, including your parents and other teachers. Therefore, please use correct grammar and spelling as well as appropriate language. Please do not write like you would in a text message. Use standard English; after all, this is part of our language arts class!
It is a good idea to read your post (reading out loud helps you catch mistakes or you can have someone else read it) before you publish it. Use the proofing features on the word processor to help you out!
Treat your classmates and others with the respect you want for yourself. You are welcome to disagree with each other, but do so in a polite, clear, and respectful way. Choose your words carefully; remember that written language lacks the body and facial language and voice tone that are present in conversations. It is easy to mistake tone when you are writing. A comment that you could get away with in a spoken discussion may seem harsh, cruel, or mean in a written one. Here again, it helps to read your post before publishing it to make sure that you don't sound mean or harsh.
Please avoid ALL CAPS. This is cyberspeak for shouting. You may use *asterisks* for emphasis if you want.
If you use ideas or writings that are not yours, please give credit to the proper sources. This is necessary whenever you cite someone else's work or ideas.
If you are unsure about posting something, ask me.

Welcome to our new blog! (Please do not respond to this post)
Great to have you join the Falcons' language arts blog! Please remember to keep everything you post here school appropriate. Also, this is a blog, not text, so mind your spelling and grammar please.
Depending on the assignment, the requirements for your postings to a blog will change. Please read the requirements for each blog carefully. If you are unclear about what you are to do, please ask me for further explanation.
Also, please follow the links and read the posts entitled "Questions to Get you Started" and "Netiquette." These posts are for your information and guidance. Please do not respond to them.
If you choose to not complete these assignments online, you may type or neatly write the assignment and turn this in to me.
